Community Outreach

Clinical Outreach with PMMV, Chonburi

Botanica participated in a clinical outreach event in Chonburi, organized by the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation (PMMV).

The event took place at a local temple, serving a community predominantly made up of farmers, rubber plantation workers, and the elderly. Many of the attendees sought medical assistance for various skin conditions, which are common due to their daily work environments.

Dr. Krit Skulpaet, Director of Chonburi Provincial
Public Health Office

By the end of the outreach, Botanica had provided over 500 units of our Snake Jasmine Cream to the local residents. In addition, we proudly donated the remaining supply to the other volunteer units present at the event, including:

Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office
Ko chan District Health Office
Chonburi Hospital
Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital
Ko Chan Police Station
Sirindhorn College of Public Health

Clinical Outreach with PMMV, Sa Kaeo

Botanica travelled to Eastern Thailand to tale part of the outreach event arranged by the PMMV at
Sa Kaeo where 500+ people from the local community attended for healthcare services.

We asked recipients of the Snake Jasmine cream to write down their contact information and symptoms on a record sheet for the purpose of following up on their progress allowing us to collect valuable feedback for future improvements.

After the event ended, we donated the remaining supply to the Sa Kaeo Provincial Public Health Office to continue distributing to those in need.

Na Yai Am Hospital, Chantaburi

We were grateful to donate our Snake Jasmine cream to support the wellness initiatives of Na Yai Am Hospital, offering an additional skincare option to complement regular treatments.

Mercy Centre, Khlong Toei

Ringworm, a prevalent type of fungal infection in the Khlong Toei slum, affected many children in the Mercy Center, causing discomfort and making it difficult for them to focus on their learning. A large number of adults in the community, living in close quarters with limited access to healthcare, also struggled with ringworm. The only available treatment was steroid cream, which can cause skin atrophy with repeated usage. Recognizing the need for a safer option more suitable for long-term usage, Botanica organized an outreach event at the centre where we donated our Snake Jasmine Cream.

We partnered with the head nurse at the Mercy Centre to ensure the creams were distributed to those in need, including both children and adults suffering from ringworm.

In addition to providing treatment, we also conducted an educational session for students and staff at the center. We taught them about the causes of ringworm, methods of prevention, and the importance of proper hygiene. By empowering the community with knowledge and resources, we hope to promote their health and well-being.

Health Education Session on Ringworm

Botanica worked in collaboration with the head nurse at the Mercy Centre to closely track the treatment progress of residents in the Khlong Toei slum. Prior to capturing any photos of their skin, patients provided their consent for the documentation. The trials showed notable improvements in the skin conditions of patients. Patients reported reduced itchiness, dryness, and inflammation without experiencing the side effects associated with previous steroid treatments. The trial not only demonstrated improvements for fungal infections but also for other conditions such as rashes and eczema.

Rammasak Herb Farm, Ang Thong

Many of the farmers we source our herbs from with also suffered from ringworm and other skin issues due to prolonged exposure to hot and humid conditions.

We arranged a donation of our Snake Jasmine cream to help address this and delivered a presentation on the causes and prevention of ringworm.

Additionally, we taught the farmers a low-cost, rudimentary extraction method for Snake Jasmine, enabling them to process the herb themselves and add value to their crops. Through these efforts, Botanica is committed uplifting our suppliers and having a positive impact on their well-being.
